Group Offerings

Workshops and seminars for organizations

Shared reading for people who want to think together, not skim side-by-side. Group offerings are structured, guided, and intentionally small.

How group work works

Group offerings from The Readist are structured, guided, and intentionally small. They are designed for readers who value conversation as a mode of thinking and who want the intellectual energy of a seminar without the institutional overhead.

These are not discussion free-for-alls or social reading clubs. Each workshop or seminar is anchored by a text, a theme, or a shared question, and shaped by careful facilitation.

Sessions are dialogic, text-centered, and paced to allow ideas to unfold rather than compete.

Who is this for?

Group workshops and seminars are designed for organizations and institutions looking to host structured, intellectually serious reading experiences.

This includes:

  • Workplaces and teams — Lunch-and-learns, professional development sessions, and reading-based workshops
  • Educational settings — High schools, colleges, and universities seeking guest-led seminars
  • Libraries and cultural organizations — Public programs, reading series, and community seminars
  • Independent groups — Small cohorts, study circles, or collectives interested in guided reading

Offerings

Group Workshops

Short-term, focused offerings built around a specific text, theme, or method delivered in lecture format.

Workshops may take the form of:

  • Guided close reading of a shared text or excerpt
  • Thematic intensives (e.g. dystopia, myth, theory-in-translation)
  • Methodological workshops on how to read difficult material

Seminars

Longer-form, cohort-based reading experiences modeled on the graduate seminar without the grades or institutional constraints.

Seminars emphasize:

  • Sustained engagement with a small set of texts
  • Cumulative conversation across sessions
  • Careful attention to method, context, and interpretation

These offerings are limited in size and run only when conditions allow for meaningful participation.

A note on format

Sessions can be adapted to fit one-off events, short series, or embedded programming. All group work is text-centered, facilitated, and designed in conversation with the host's goals.

Current & Upcoming Offerings

Group workshops and seminars are offered periodically rather than continuously. Details are announced through the newsletter and posted here when registration is open.

If no group offerings are currently listed, that simply means the work is still taking shape.
